In desperate need of tea holders, and with high prices in the stores we decided to make our own from mason jars. Mason jars are perfect because when they seal they are air tight, which is necessary in preserving your tea. The only problem, though, is that light penetrates through the clear jar. In order to keep light out, each jar was painted with several coats of acrylic paint. I got the paint from Michaels for 3/$1. I used a sponge brush and carefully dabbed the paint on to avoid streaking on the jars. Go slowly and have patience! It took 2 or 3 coats to fully cover each jar. After the paint dried, it was sprayed with a clear spray paint sealant that I found at Menards for about $3. Using homemade chalkboard paint, from the Idea Room, we painted the tops of the jars. This way, you can switch out tea and the titles. It worked perfectly, hope you like the results. xoxo Katie
